From her father, Caryl learned to love nature and the outdoors, while her mother instilled in her a love for music, dance and education. After serving in Pastoral Care at St. Clare Hospital in Monroe, Wisconsin, from 19791980, Sister Mary Christopher returned to Fond du Lac for hospice training and worked for five years as a home visit nurse with Hospice Hope. Having sensed a call to religious life early on, she was particularly inspired by the spirit of the Sisters of St. Agnes, her high school teachers.
